Sex Before Marriage — Is It That Deep?
A real conversation about relationships, boundaries, pressure, choices and what the Bible says about love and commitment.
Real Talk. Real Issues. Real Community.
The conversations we need to have.
Unfiltered Fridays is a weekly youth meetup where young people can talk openly about real-life issues in a safe, faith-centred environment.
Life can be complicated. Faith, relationships, identity, pressure, purpose, church, school, university, family and the future can all raise questions that are not always easy to say out loud.
Unfiltered Fridays exists to give young people a safe, respectful space to talk, listen, ask questions, think deeply, and reason through real issues from a Christian and biblical perspective. This is not about judging people. It is about creating space for honest conversation, thoughtful guidance and genuine community.
Unfiltered Fridays was created by the youth department of Great Brickkiln Street Seventh-day Adventist Church — known as EMERGE. The name was chosen by the young people of GBK themselves, and it was the youth who decided they needed a space where young people can talk openly about real topics and discuss them in a judgement-free zone. They wanted somewhere they could explore these conversations in a non-judgemental environment, while still keeping a biblical and spiritual emphasis at the heart of it all.
Talk openly about the issues young people are actually facing.
Hear advice and reasoning shaped by biblical principles.
A respectful space where questions can be asked without fear.
These are some of the conversations young people have asked for. Each session is designed to be honest, respectful and practical, with space to think, ask questions and reason together.

A real conversation about relationships, boundaries, pressure, choices and what the Bible says about love and commitment.

An honest conversation about desire, discipline, attraction and how to understand the difference between love and lust.

A practical conversation about gang culture, violence, pressure, influence and how to choose a different path.

A conversation about dealing with racism, identity, confidence and how to respond with wisdom and strength.

What does Sabbath really look like biblically, and how can it be meaningful rather than just routine?

A conversation about manhood, respect, emotions, pressure and becoming the kind of person God calls you to be.

A real discussion about church, choice, faith, pressure from family and finding a relationship with God for yourself.
Each Friday is designed to feel welcoming, structured and easy to engage with. You do not have to speak if you do not want to. You can listen, reflect, ask questions and join the conversation at your own pace.
There will be different hosts and speakers who will lead workshops and group discussions. There will also be men-only and women-only groups, giving each group the opportunity to explore specific topics and delve deeper into areas like relationships in a space that feels comfortable and relevant to them.
Arrive, settle in and meet other young people.
We open up a relevant subject and explore it honestly.
There will be space to ask questions safely and respectfully.
We reason through the topic using biblical principles and practical wisdom.
A chance to connect with others who are asking similar questions.
You can register for updates, future sessions and the EMERGE newsletter.
Unfiltered Fridays is a conversation space. People are welcome to express questions, thoughts and experiences respectfully.
Those leading the sessions will offer advice and reasoning from a biblical perspective, but the aim is not to shame, embarrass or judge anyone. The aim is to listen, discuss, reason and help young people think through real-life challenges with faith, wisdom and care.
Spaces are free, but registration is required so we can plan safely, manage capacity and keep you updated.
Unfiltered Fridays is aimed at young people aged 18–25, with a minimum age of 15. Anyone under 18 must have written permission from a parent or guardian before their place is confirmed.
